The Biophysical Chondroprotection
Cartilage disease

Articular cartilalge plays the fundamental role of facilitating movements between the joint heads and absorbs and redistributes the mechanical loads on the joint.

Articular cartilage has only minimal repairing capacities except for small lesions in young people.
In the course of human life, the quality and mechanical properties of joint cartilage can only decrease.
Therefore, the implementation of all possible therapeutic actions, to limit or prevent the degeneration of the cartilaginous tissue,is of fundamental importance.

AN UNDAMAGED AND EFFICIENT CARTILAGE IS
"ONCE IN A LIFETIME" WEALTH.

The causes that may damage the articular cartilage can be listed in mechanically induced and biologically induced ones.

The Biophysical Chondroprotection through the control of inflammation and a direct action on chondrocytes, is able to protect joint cartilage in its extension and thickness against the catabolic effects of inflammatory cytokines, and to stimulate the chondrocytes activity enhancing the cartilage endogenous repair processes of the cartilage.

Simultaneous treatment of the cartilage, the subchondral bone tissue and the joint structures is feasible only through physical means, namely Biophysical Chondroprotection.

Chondroprotection can be implemented using a Byophisical electric field induced stimulus, since the whole joint cartilage, in its total thickness and extension, will be exposed to the therapy uniformly.

The Biophysical Chondroprotection allows:

A) inflammation control
B) anabolic activity on the cartilage
C) healing of the subchondral bone
