IGEA, a success created by people for people
The areas of interest of IGEA are orthopaedics and oncology. Science, innovation, design skills, technology, quality, efficacy and safety are the guiding criteria for development of innovative and effective medical devices.
IGEA's activity is in Clinical Biophysics, the branch of medicine that applies physical stimuli to biological systems.
In Orthopaedics, Biophysical Stimulation is accepted practice in many European countries. It is commonly used to promote bone tissue repair and avascular necrosis of the femoral head. Recently the use of Biophysical Stimulation has been extended to the treatment of joint cartilage after surgical procedure.
The range of IGEA Medical Devices dedicated to Orthopaedic Biophysics includes four devices for bone tissue treatment (Biostim, OsteoBit, OsteoSpine, FAST) and one device for the joint cartilage (I-ONE therapy). IGEA Medical Devices are safe and deliver effective physical signals.
In Oncology, electrical impulses (electroporation) applied to cancerous tissue associated with specific drugs, are used successfully to eradicate tumours: electrochemotherapy. Electroporation promotes penetration of drugs that otherwise permeate poorly into the cancerous cell. Electrochemotherapy is used to treat cutaneous and subcutaneous tumour nodules of different histological origin.
IGEA’s research and commitment led to the development of Cliniporator, the only electroporator that can be used in clinical practice. Simple to use, it allows electroporation of the cancerous cells to be completed in a few minutes. A large number of lesions can be treated in a single session.
